Our data

Everything Gravity knows about an e-commerce brand.

Gravity by Benchr shows, for each of the more than 4 million e-commerce brands it indexes, every data point on the brand page: what it is, where it comes from, and whether it is collected, declared, estimated or computed. The “looks like” column shows the format of a value, not a specific brand.

How to read our data

Five rules Gravity by Benchr holds itself to.

  1. Four kinds of data, always labelled. In Gravity by Benchr, collected data is shown as the source published it, declared data is what the company says about itself, estimated data comes from a Gravity model, and computed data is derived by Gravity from the other three. Estimates and computed values are indicators for e-commerce brands, not audited numbers.
  2. “Not collected” is not “zero”. When Gravity by Benchr has not collected a profile — a TikTok account, for example — the brand page says “not collected”; it never shows zero for a brand that may well be there.
  3. Every value carries its collection date. Follower and headcount figures in Gravity by Benchr age: after a few weeks they give an order of magnitude for the brand, not an exact value.
  4. Percentiles compare against the profiles Gravity has measured, not the whole index. In Gravity by Benchr, “Top 5%” means top 5% of the profiles Gravity has measured.
  5. Every value is traceable, and every page can be corrected. Gravity by Benchr shows where each value comes from and when it was collected, and any e-commerce brand can ask for a value on its page to be corrected.

Sources, rights & privacy

What Gravity by Benchr collects, and what it doesn’t.

Public sources

Gravity by Benchr collects information that is publicly accessible about e-commerce brands: brand websites and public store catalogues, public social profiles, the transparency data platforms publish under EU law, company registers and domain registries.

About companies, not people

Gravity by Benchr describes e-commerce brands. Where a public profile belongs to a person — a creator, a founder — Gravity shows public professional metrics, never collects special-category data (health, beliefs, orientation, ethnicity), and removes the profile on request.

Your page, your correction

Any e-commerce brand can claim its Gravity by Benchr page, ask for a value to be corrected or ask for the page to be removed. Every request is read by a person and answered within 30 days. Claim or correct a page →

Estimates stay estimates

In Gravity by Benchr, modelled values about e-commerce brands — traffic, earned media value, and revenue when it comes — are labelled as estimates and never presented as facts about the brand.

Content stays with its owner

Brand names, logos, ad creatives and product images belong to their owners. Gravity by Benchr shows them to identify the brand and links to the source. Gravity is independent and not affiliated with any brand or platform it describes.

Using the data

The Gravity by Benchr index of e-commerce brands is a protected database. You can use it and export it for your own analyses; automated extraction, resale or redistribution isn’t allowed. Legal basis and retention are in the privacy policy.
