Privacy policy

What Benchr collects when you visit this site, use the Gravity application or the Chrome extension, why, for how long, and what your rights are.

Last updated: 15 October 2026

1. Who is responsible

The data controller is Benchr Services SRL, Chaussée de Bruxelles 102/B, 1410 Waterloo, Belgium, enterprise number 1009.638.950. You can reach us at admin@benchr.co.

This policy covers gravity.benchr.ai — its public pages and the Gravity application — and the Chrome extension “Gravity — Brand Intelligence”. The extension also has a dedicated privacy policy on the Chrome Web Store; both say the same thing.

2. The website

The public pages (home, extension, legal pages) set no cookies of their own; the only cookie on this domain is the session cookie created when you sign in. Your choice of light or dark theme is kept in your browser’s local storage and never sent to us. Our hosting provider keeps technical logs (IP address, browser, pages requested, time) for security and troubleshooting, for a maximum of twelve months. Nothing on this site is used for advertising.

When you search a brand on the home page, our server fetches that brand’s icon from Google’s favicon service and relays it to you: Google sees the brand’s domain, requested by our server, never your IP address or what you type.

The video on the extension page is served from our own servers. If you choose to open it on YouTube, YouTube’s own policy applies.

3. Your Gravity account

To use the application and the extension you create an account with your email address and a password, or with Google sign-in. In that case Google sends us your email address and basic profile information; we never see your Google password. Passwords are stored hashed.

We also keep what you do in the product — your watchlist and lists, the brand pages you open, the sites you ask us to add, your settings — to provide the service, to apply the daily quotas of the free and subscriber plans, and to monitor fair use. Legal basis: the contract between you and Benchr.

We keep account data as long as your account exists. Delete your account, or ask us to, and it is erased within 30 days, except what the law requires us to keep.

4. Subscription and payment

Payments are processed by Stripe Payments Europe Ltd. Your card details go directly to Stripe; Benchr never receives or stores them. We receive the status of your subscription and the data needed for invoices (name, billing address, VAT number). Invoices and accounting records are kept for seven years, as Belgian law requires.

5. Product analytics

To understand how Gravity is used and improve it, the application and the extension send a small number of usage events to PostHog, a product-analytics service hosted in the European Union: for example, panel opened, brand page viewed, tab opened, plan and extension version. These events carry your account identifier and email address. The domains of brand pages you view, and of sites you ask us to add, are included; the domains of other sites you visit never are. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in improving the product. You can object at any time by writing to us.

6. The Chrome extension

The extension reads only the domain of the active tab, or the name of the profile you are viewing on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn or Facebook, and sends it to Gravity to look up the brand. It never reads or stores your browsing history.

  • When the Gravity button on web pages is on, the domain of each site you open is sent to Gravity at most once a day, only to answer whether Gravity has data on it. This question is not recorded.
  • When you click “Request this site”, the address, title, a screenshot and the HTML of that page are sent to Gravity so the site can be evaluated for indexing.
  • When you share to Slack, the extension types your message into Slack’s composer; it reads nothing from Slack.
  • The extension stores its own settings in your browser (button on or off, position, hidden sites) and keeps Gravity’s yes/no answers in session memory for 24 hours.

The extension communicates with a single server, Gravity’s own, with your Gravity session. The permissions it asks for, and why, are listed on its Chrome Web Store page and in the extension policy linked above.

7. Emails

We send the emails needed to run your account: verification, invitations you trigger, invoices, important changes to the service. We may occasionally send product news about Gravity; every such email has an unsubscribe link.

8. Who else sees your data

Only providers who help us run Gravity, each bound by a data-processing agreement: Amazon Web Services (hosting of this website and of the application), our data-services hosting provider in the European Union, Stripe (payments), PostHog (product analytics, EU hosting), Google (sign-in, if you use it) and Cloudflare (storage and delivery of images). We never sell personal data, and we never share it for advertising.

Some of these providers are established in the United States. Transfers are covered by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

9. Security

All traffic is encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed. Access to production data is restricted to the people who operate the service.

10. Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation you can ask for access to your data, correct it, have it erased, restrict or object to its processing, and receive a copy in a portable format. Write to admin@benchr.co; we answer within one month. You can also lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Autorité de protection des données, Rue de la Presse 35, 1000 Brussels, autoriteprotectiondonnees.be).

11. Minors

Gravity is a professional tool and is not intended for people under 18.

12. Changes

When this policy changes, the date at the top is updated and, for material changes, account holders are notified by email.
